A shopping mall is not exactly a place that your kids want to visit on a trip to Mumbai, but ‘Happy Mommy, Happy Kids’ right? You cannot not go shopping when you are in Mumbai! And if one of the largest shopping malls in India has a dedicated play area, kids specialty stores and a zillion eating outlets, the kids are not going to complain as much. Here are some highlights from a lovely day spent shopping (and window shopping) at the High Street Phoenix Mall in Lower Parel area of Mumbai.
In my quest for wheelchair friendly attractions in Mumbai after my daughter got injured at Kidzania (read all about it in my Kidzania Mumbai review), I found shopping malls to be very convenient. The High Street Phoenix Mall was already on my itinerary but we pushed it up a little further since my daughter was completely out of action. There were 2 major reasons why I was wild about visiting this particular mall and you shall soon know why. But with the major brands of the world located in one single spot, there would be little reason for any shopaholic fashionista mommy to not drag her kids to this mall…lol!

Join me for some window shopping in this fabulous shopping mall as I take you on a pictorial journey with me.
The Palladium
The High Street Phoenix Mall is divided into different shopping areas. The Palladium houses the most enviable brands in the world. But first, stop at PapaBubble, the international gourmet candy store and get the kids something to keep busy while you bore them with brand names. My kids were already crazy about the store when PodSquad Box sent us some custom made ‘Pod’ candy by PapaBubble for Diwali.

PapaBubble is a must visit!

Life is Juicy!

The next time I am in Mumbai without kids, this is where you can find me! Can’t wait to attend one of Aditi Mittal’s shows. Have you seen her comic performances? You will love them. Check out this ‘Bra Shopping’ video 🙂

Missing that Adrenaline Rush!

Another View…

BCBG Max Azria greeted me with gorgeous red dresses as I stepped out of an elevator.

Though not the next, but Furla is high up on my ‘must-have’ list. I think 3rd or 4th in line 🙂

Major brand names, wherever you look.

The Clinique Display is lovely! By the way, the High Street Phoenix Mall is one of the largest malls in India

Fabulous Daddy was at his best and took care of the kids superbly – while Mommy clicked, ogled and shopped LOL!

One of my favorite Indian labels!

What PapaBubble is for Kids, Judith Leiber is for Moms! You have to see her arm candy clutches in person!!

Kiehl’s had the most interesting window display!
Jamie’s Pizzeria
After my fill of luxury brand names, it was time for lunch. We now headed towards a place which was my 1st reason to come to this mall – Jamie’s Pizzeria! Both my husband and I are big fans of Chef Jamie Oliver. We watch his cooking shows so often that even our kids recognize Jamie. When we heard Jamie’s has opened up in India, we have been keen on visiting one. After Delhi, Jamie’s Pizzeria is now in Mumbai too. Ideally, we would love to eat something other than pizza, by Jamie Oliver. But for now, this is good enough!

Yay….we are at Jamie’s!

I will discuss the food in another post but you can see from my son’s expression that I had dragged them a little too much in the Palladium…lol!

The Courtyard – High Street Phoenix Mall
The main High Street Phoenix Mall has a separate entry and leads to a beautiful open area called the ‘Courtyard’. This is where lies my 2nd reason to visit this mall.

You know what the best thing about this McDonald’s outlet is? Apart from the fact that it is housed in the prettiest white building in an open ‘courtyard’? Well, directly opposite this restaurant is the H&M store! You can safely deposit your hubby and kids here and take off to the other side 🙂

There – my 2nd reason for visiting this mall! When a global brand like H & M opens their outlet in your country, responsible fashionista citizens consider it a duty to pay their respects 🙂

You can also send the kids to visit Hamley’s – the legendary toy store – on the right of H & M in the Courtyard

The lovely British-red entrance to the Hamley’s Toy Store at High Street Phoenix Mall

To the left of McDonalds and Opposite of Hamley’s is the Palladium Social, which we had just come out of.
Kids Play Area & Favorite Foods

Fabulous Dad kept the younger two occupied at this play area further ahead from McDonald’s while Mommy took off to H & M with the eldest. Did you know that H & M has a lovely clothing line for kids and pre-teens? My daughter was happy accompanying me in there!

The kids refueled with some sugar-kick at ‘Mad Over Donuts’ while I was still shopping.

It took me an hour to check out the stuff at H & M and I still left out a lot. There wasn’t much time for trying on clothes, so I shopped for accessories which is usually quicker.

The High Street Phoenix has live entertainment in the Courtyard every evening. We sat down comfortably to rest our feet and listen to the live music for some time.

Finally, we ordered some take away ‘Happy Meals’ for the kids while they took turns sitting in Ronald McDonald’s lap.
And thus ended this lovely day filled with brands, shopping, food and fun! Thanks for coming along 🙂
