Bringing a new baby into the world is both tough and scary — from unexpected pregnancy hiccups to the unknowns of life, new parents have a lot ahead of them. With so much going on, it’s important that you send some well wishes and positive vibes toward the new and expecting parents this season! Here are some of the best gifts to give for all those summer babies.
1. A lightweight blanket.
We tend to think of baby blankets as needing to be thick, snuggly and warm, but sometimes a baby needs something lighter and cooler to the touch. This is especially if they live in a warm area. Summer can be particularly cruel to newborns because of their sensitive skin, so a lightweight blanket that doesn’t absorb heat is key. You can still find them a fun custom baby blanket that will look great and let them snuggle up without worrying about them overheating!
2. An embroidered bucket hat.
That sun just mentioned? Summer babies are going to need something to wear on their heads to keep from getting sunburnt — especially if their parents like to enjoy time on the beach! A bucket hat is great for babies because of its shape. Get it embroidered with their name or initials for a unique and personalized touch. Choose a bright, summery color as well, such as green or orange, to really drive home the fact that they’re a summer baby.
3. Something yellow.
Yellow is the color of sunshine! In fact, seeing yellow tends to make people feel happy when they see it. For a summer baby, why not get them something yellow? A baby is the light of many parents’ worlds, so something yellow, such as a picture frame, is a perfect newborn baby gift.
Whether you choose blankets, onesies or even a stuffed animal for the expecting baby, something yellow is the way to go. Plus, yellow is a gender neutral color, so it’s perfect for couples who are choosing to wait to find out the sex of their child until it’s born!
4. A lightweight onesie.
Baby onesies are always a great gift to give new and expecting parents. They’ll need a lot of them — if the baby has an unexpected blowout or spit up incident, sometimes the onsie is ruined, so another one is needed. Some babies can go through three or four onesies a day!
New parents can never have enough onesies — or diapers! Give them the gift of a lightweight onesie that’s perfect for summer. They’ll love that you considered all they need. A lightweight onesie is perfect for summer babies because it’ll keep them cool with the heat.
5. A beachy bib.
Babies will need a bib, there’s no question about that. Whether it’s drool, spit up or food that spills out of their mouth, a bib is the first line of defense in saving any clothing they’re wearing. Summer babies deserve a fun, beachy bib! Find one that has beach balls, umbrellas and starfish embroidered on it to really drive home their summer baby status. It’s perfect for a baby born in the summer, or one born near a beach!
6. A beach towel.
A baby’s never too young to get their first beach towel! Summer babies shouldn’t miss out on the beach fun, so why not get them their own beach towel? It doesn’t have to be large, but beach towels do have a slightly different texture than regular bath towels, to stand up to the sun and absorb more water.
Get them a fun beach towel with interesting summer patterns and designs so that they can have their own towel for family beach day. You can also get a personalized baby blanket to lay on top of the beach towel so that the baby has something soft and cuddly to roll around on.
7. A throw pillow.
Their nursery deserves some love — and a personalized throw pillow is perfect for that! Whether it’s personalized with their name, initials or birth date, their throw pillow will look great on their nursery rocking chair or on another piece of furniture in their nursery. Then, as they get older, it will look great on their bed or even in the playroom!
Choose one in a bright summer color, or go more neutral so it fits in with their nursery colors. You don’t have to give away your gift idea to the expecting parents, but simply asking what colors are going to be in the baby’s nursery will let them know you’re planning something special.
8. A night light.
A new baby means lots of late nights and early mornings. Help the new parents out by giving them a night light for the nursery. It’ll prevent them from stepping on any toys or tripping over themselves as they walk through the dark, and it can also help baby by giving them something to focus on instead of opening their eyes to the dark. It’s just one additional tool that’s great for new and expecting parents to receive as a gift.
9. An ornament.
An ornament commemorating the new baby’s birthday, first trip to the beach or even first time swimming in the ocean is a great gift idea. Ornaments that feature the option to put a photo in or have it printed directly on the ornament are best.
Even if you can’t find one that’s related to summer events, an ornament commemorating their birth is perfect. It’s an often overlooked item until the holiday season, so purchasing one now, in the summer, means that the new parents don’t have to scramble closer to the holidays to find one — they’ll already be set!
10. A wall canvas
Wall canvases are great gifts to give expecting parents. For summer babies, consider getting one that depicts a beach scene or has the baby’s name printed across a bright sun. The expecting parents can hang it right up on the nursery wall! If you don’t want the canvas to clash with the nursery decor, check with the parents about colors and theme.

All the options are fab. We like giving ornaments like i give a ring to my sis’s son. For a friend i gifted a customized hat with the child name on it. Cushions n pillows is also a good option.

My son is 9 months old and he is very naughty. He has started walking recently and it’s very hard to control him. I and my husband both have to handle him. He likes to play a lot. None of the toys stays for more than 2 weeks. He doesn’t like to play with the same toys again and again. sometimes its get hard to choose toys for him considering his safety. My brother-in-law bought a crocodile-themed pull toy from Nesta Toys a 3 months back. It’s really good. My son likes to hold it and walk. The things which attracted us a lot are it has round and smooth edges which is safe, water-based paint is used, it has non-toxic coatings and most importantly its durable. It also has a beating drum sound which my son likes the most, he enjoys and follows the tune. In this way, it is easy for us to feed him too. Even though he throws the toy sometimes, the toy doesn’t break. Hopefully he will keep it safe.
