Does your little boy love his cars? Mine sure does! We even hosted a Cars themed birthday party for him once. When MBCI told me that they wanted to send over a BabyWalk toy for review, I had no idea it was going to become my son’s favorite activity of all time! And not just boys – it was too irresistible for his sister to stay away and she joined in the fun too. The BabyWalk Zooming Mat is a must have for every child who loves to play with his cars.
Here are my thoughts along with some shots of my son completely engrossed in playing with the mat.
First Impressions
When the package first arrived, I agreed that it was a cool toy. It seemed like fun. But I had no clue how very addictive this was going to be. Even my son was happy to see it. But it was not until he started playing with it that he realized what the mat really had to offer him!
Pretend Play at its Best
The Zooming mat will fuel your child’s imagination. This mat provides not only a track to drive or race their cars upon, but an entire setup of a city. The mat beautifully depicts interesting spots that kids can drive to, in their imaginary world. It is beautifully illustrated with pictures of everyday interest. It features a school, bank, restaurant, bakery, carnival, farm, apartments, grocery store etc.
My son quickly imagined himself to be an expert driver like his Daddy and began doing chores like dropping off his sister to school, stopping at the bank for some work, getting bread on the way back home and taking the family to the carnival in the evening! He even stationed his Hot Wheels ‘Food Truck’ at the carnival to earn some money 🙂 🙂
Traffic Rule Education
The illustrations on the mat are true to real life roads and could be your child’s first step towards learning the traffic rules. The roads have traffic signals, zebra crossings and speed breakers on the city roads along with allotted parking space. There is also the highway which is clear of all these so the kids can cruise along with ease. This is where my son chose to put all his ‘trucks’ as he has seen in real life.
Hours of Creative Play Time
Caution: Fabulous Mom Life and Baby Walk do not claim any responsibility if your child continues in one spot for hours together with complete disregard to the world around him!
Lol…my son sat playing on the mat for hours together the first time he saw it. He would not even budge to eat his lunch on the dining table and I had to spoon feed him right there! It is a blessing for busy moms. I had the satisfaction of knowing that my son was very creatively engaged in something other than a screen of some kind.
More Than Just Cars
Kids with their un-spoilt minds are far more creative than us! My son quickly found new ways to add to his fun. He brought his box containing his entire collection of ‘Pandas’ collected from Cadbury Gems Balls. He added these to the mat to make people. Several pandas were stationed at the zebra crossings. The ‘Rockstar Pandas’ were going to a concert they had to perform. The ‘Magician Panda’ was performing at the carnival. The ‘Pirate Panda’ was planning to rob the bank! The ‘Chef Panda’ worked at the restaurant and the ‘Nurse’ worked at the School dispensary.
The mat gives you a ready set up to play about anything on it!
Long Lasting
I will tell you very frankly that I love fabric and wooden toys. There is something so much more real and organic about them than any others. The mat is made of 100% cotton and is washable. The seams look extremely strong and I can safely that it is going to last us for quite some time.
An educational toy that is neither a ‘screen’ nor requires ‘batteries’ and still manages to occupy your child creatively for hours together gets ten on ten from me! This is the best gift ever for any car loving boy or girl. I can’t wait to see what creative ideas my little girl comes up with, when she is old enough to play with it 🙂
You can shop the Zooming Mat online for INR 1850.
P.S. Boys will be Boys!
I will need to be born as a boy to understand how their brain works. The picture-perfect pretend play had an unexpected ‘boy’ twist. The game ended with a ‘meteor’ (a large orange ball) dropping on the city and upturning every single car and person in the ‘city’!
I was too shocked to laugh at first. But my husband assures me that I should get used to such ‘twists’ in my ‘Fairy Tales’…ha..ha!
