The long Diwali vacations are over and I planned a lot of activities to keep the kids busy. One of these was yet another excellent DIY kit from Jumboo – the Birdie Cage. The kids invited their friends over for a crafty afternoon and all the kids made and took home one cage each. Here is a review of the Jumboo Birdie Cage DIY Craft Kit for kids.
Jumboo Birdie Cage DIY Craft Kit for Kids
Jumboo makes excellent DIY paper crafting kits for kids. I have previously reviewed their hand puppets and funny characters kits. This month we were introduced to yet another innovative craft idea. The birdie cage is as engaging an activity for kids who love to craft.

Each DIY kit by Jumboo contains all the materials required to make the craft. I love that the paper shapes are so accurately cut. The Birdie Cage kit contains enough materials to make 4 paper strip bird cages with one bird inside each cage.
Since I had not thought of taking permission from the other kids’ moms to use their pictures on my blog, I am not sharing any pictures of the process. But you will see from my previous Jumboo kit reviews that kids are able to make the crafts completely on their own.
The kit contains shapes for the base, the colorful iron bars of the cage, the bird itself and some decorations for the cage. It also includes string for hanging the cages. The kit also carries a step-by-step instruction sheet with clear and concise directions for the kids to work upon.
While the package says ‘Ages 5 and above’, my 5 year old found that he needed some help gluing the strips to the base. Boys and girls ages 7 and up were able to do it with ease. We also had two girls of ages 10 and above at our little craft party and they found the activity easy and very interesting.
Craft Party
All the kids were excited on seeing the box and set to work immediately. Each little guest at our craft party got to carry home the cage that they made. My kids were thrilled to have another animal themed craft. Their recent craft activities included those from the Animal Friend PodSquad Box and they were glad to add to their animal-friendly creations.
While there is no way my kids will ever want to keep a lovely bird trapped in a real cage, it is completely okay for them to make a paper birdie cage for their rooms! In fact, I am myself fond of using bird cages for decor. Our little cage is now displayed in front of the wall art that my daughter did for her room 🙂
