I am a big advocate of swaddling and cannot imagine how one can bring up a baby otherwise! Modern day entrepreneurial moms and other thoughtful brains have come up with creative ideas to help swaddle the baby without any fuss. The best creation that makes a mom’s life so much more easier has got to be sleep sacks that combine blankets with swaddling! I share with you today, my favorite swaddle and sleep sack brands available in India.
I have been meaning to start a ‘My Favorite Brands’ series of posts for quite some time now. I get questions almost every day to recommend my favorite brands from moms. Well, let us begin with swaddles and sleep sacks today and I will follow up with more baby, mommy and household products.
Other than swaddling, I have faced another problem that many moms do, with little babies. They don’t want to keep their blankets on! The only way to keep them warm and comfortable throughout the night is to swaddle. And when they are past the age of swaddling, choose a warm sleep sack. Sleep sacks are wearable blankets that your baby cannot pull off.
What to Use and When?
Sometimes, I only swaddle. This is for most days in the warm temperatures of India. At others, especially during the coldest winter days, I swaddle in cottons and then use a warm sleep sack. Sleep sacks cum swaddles are a blessing for little babies during cold nights. For regular nights with the Air Conditioning on, I use a warm sleep sack.
Swaddles and Sleep Sacks I Love and Recommend
1.Carter’s Micro Fleece Sleep Sack
This one is an absolute favorite of mine for everyday use! Most nights, we sleep in a regulated temperature controlled by the AC, which is cold. To keep the baby snug and warm, I use Carter’s Micro Fleece Sleep Sack. It is warm, comfortable and keeps the toes warm. It is only available for baby sizes and works well for babies less than a year old. If you have to buy just one sleep sack, make it this one!
It is not available through an Indian website, but you can buy it directly from Amazon.com. They ship to India and I use them all the time to shop for international brands that are not available in India.
Note: Expect the price to double when you buy anything from Amazon. This includes shipping costs and custom duties. They take care of everything and there are no surprise custom duties to pay later.
Cost: $17 + International Shipping & Handling: $18 – Total – $45
Available From: Amazon USA
2. HALO Muslin Sleep Sack Swaddle
Another favorite is the HALO 100% Cotton Muslin Sleep Sack + Swaddle. Needless to say, this is the most fuss free way to put babies to sleep. It is a wearable blanket that also has a swaddle option across the chest and gets my vote. The baby sleeps even more peacefully because of the warmth and the security of the swaddle wrap.
If you live in colder climes, the same sleep sack is also available in fleece.
Cost: Rs. 2952
Available From: Amazon India
3. Swaddle Me Summer Infant Wraps
SwaddleMe is an extremely trusted brand and I have written a full review of their summer swaddle wraps. Depending upon the climate, you can opt for their cotton or fleece swaddle wraps. They are available on Amazon India but will cost you cheaper if you shop directly from Amazon.com.
Swaddle your baby in the wraps and then put them to sleep. The baby sleeps snug and tight! If it is cold, add an extra layer of blankets or use a square blanket to loosely wrap over the cotton swaddle.
Cost: $30 for a Pack of Two (Price+Shipping to India)
Available From: Amazon India or Amazon.com (Direct International Shipping to India available)
4. Snuggles Sleeping Bag
A cheaper alternative is available locally. Snuggles from BabyOye has sleeping bags in cute prints. There are many other brands selling sleeping bags in India, almost all of them are sleeveless. Only snuggles has full sleeved sleeping bag options.
Note: You can make a sleeveless sleep sack work very easily by using a full-sleeved night suit for your baby 🙂
Price: Rs. 649
Available From: BabyOye.com
5. Footed Fleece Sleepers/Sleepsuits
When babies grow older, they refuse to be swaddled! They create a ruckus when you try to ‘trap’ them into something that restricts their leg movement. That is the time to switch to footed sleepers! The only way to keep babies (who kick off their blankets like mine do) is footed fleece sleepers. Whether you decide to buy fleece or cotton, make sure their sleepsuits are footed so that their feet are not cold. I have some fleece ones bought from the US but I bought plenty of cotton ones from FS Mini Klub and Mothercare in India.
Cost: Rs. 699
Available From: Shoppers Stop and FirstCry.com
