It is so much fun looking for the most creative and fun rakhis every year. While I try to find traditional, resham base rakhis for grown-ups, it is different with the kids. Little boys, I find, cherish those rakhis which they can relate to. I am sharing today some of the cute, creative and unique rakhis for kids I bought this year, and some special ones from past years.
Cool Slogan Rakhi
My picks for this year for my son are these super cool slogan rakhis from Kidofy. They are available on FirstCry.com and were delivered with 3 days.
These slogans sum up my son so well. His elder sister helped finalize them. She wants to tie him the ‘Daring wala bhai’ rakhi (in honour of their constant fights…lol). His little sister will go for the ‘Sharing wala bhai’ which he is. I had actually selected ‘Caring wala bhai’ from his little sis but it was sold out before I bought it!
The rest of the rakhis from this collections are also very witty and funny. I found myself wishing I had someone to match the description of each rakhi, so I could buy them all…LOL. I love the illustrations on each of the rakhi. The packaging is collectible. I am going to hold on the packaging and use it to store the rakhis after the festival.
Baby Superhero Rakhis
How cute are these baby superhero rakhis??!! These are from last year when we did a Superhero themed Rakhi. Both sisters tied a superhero rakhi and gifted their brother a superhero action figure. These cute felt rakhis from OysterKids are available on FirstCry.com and make really unique rakhis for kids. The same brand has many more designs in felt, including the little red and blue Train Engine rakhi seen in the first picture on top. Perfect for delicate little hands.
Felt Kids Rakhi with Matching Envelope
Another cute idea from OysterKids, this rakhi with a matching felt envelope is perfect for little boys. The collectible envelope makes it a great choice for a boy or girl’s first rakhi. OysterKids also has these cute felt envelopes in mnay more designs including girly motifs. They are perfect for giving little gifts, jewelry and cash.
Gold Rakhi
First raksha bandhans are special affairs. I like to commemorate them with a tiny little Gold rakhi. I reserve gold for kids for special occasions such as a first Raksha Bandhan as I have already mentioned in the post on Raksha Bandhan gift ideas for sisters. This cute little Carat Lane rakhi in 0.1 grams gold on a red resham thread base is safely stored as a sweet memory of my son’s as well as my daughters’ cousin’s first Raksha Bandhan. The tiny rakhi is just perfect for little wrists.
DIY Rakhi
What can be more special than a handmade Rakhi? One raksha bandhan, I set out to DIY with my daughter who loved the idea of making a handmade rakhi for her little brother.
Since he was (and still is!) a Spider Man fan, we decided to go with it. We made a base for the rakhi using dark blue silk thread.
Then we glued a puffy Spider-man face sticker and a ribbon at the back to tie. It was very easy and came out very cute!
Girly Rakhis
Traditionally, it is sisters who tie rakhis on their brothers’ wrists. But little kids know of no such rules! As enticing as the displayed ‘girly’ rakhis are, any little girl would love to flaunt them.
This year, we found a Minnie rakhi which happens to be my littlest one’s current favorite character. In fact, she saw it herself and picked it up and wasn’t ready to give it back even for the shopkeeper to bill it! A ‘Hello Kitty’ rakhi was our second girly purchase which is a utility item turned into a rakhi.
It is a sharpener really! There are many such rakhis for boys too. So when the kids are done showing off their rakhis, they can remove them and out them to some other use.
