What a memorable Karwa Chauth it was! My first virtual party was a big success and I was all aglow with happiness for more than one reason! In between posting interesting Karwa Chauth games, contests and discussions on my FB page during the party, I barely managed to find time to dress up for the evening Pooja. Here are some quickly taken shots from the day showing my Karwa Chauth outfit and details.
The Karwa Chauth FB party was a hit and included many prizes for different Karwa Chauth selfies. There were prizes for most number of bangles, rings and a lot more. Alas, I was so busy playing the perfect host that I could not find the time to post my own pics. In fact, I saw my own pics much later that night…after dinner!
Saree Love
My love for Sarees had taken a backseat during the last few years. By the time I get the trio ready, I am so exhausted that I turn to a Salwar Kameez whenever the occasion calls for ethnic attire. I decided to change things this time around. I dug out a saree that was lying completely unused – never worn at all (there’s another one!). It was a last minute decision to ditch the Anarkali I had planned to wear.
I was pleased to find I had lost some weight, but that meant the saree blouse was going to fit very ill. But I had my mind set on wearing a saree so I went ahead and wore the ill fitting blouse.
Getting Dressed in Parts!
Most of my Karwa Chauth outfit was put together in separate installments. I would post a new contest/question for my virtual party guests and rush to my dresser to put on makeup, wear some jewelry etc. My kids were amused to see me running from my office cabin to my bedroom several times. But they were kind enough to tell me that, “Mamma, aap bahot achhe lag rahe ho.” Not surprising, considering the fact that they had completely forgotten how I look in a saree!
I rarely do a middle parting on my hair. And I rarely apply a ‘bindi’ on my forehead as well. The two together completely altered my look. As a result, I received a lot of ‘you look different’ compliments from my friends and family on FB. Well, I believe it is a great idea to keep altering your look. After all, we only live once. Let’s give it all a try!
Selfie With Kids
The kids had to jump in for a selfie session, in the middle of my party. My eldest, who had seen me working on the party questions, wanted to see how the quiz contests were going on. The other two simply wanted to barge into my office. They wanted to see what was keeping me busy for so many hours. My usual working hours are naptimes, you see. So my baby got anxious when I stayed busy for hours together on the party.
Thank You Daddy!
The party, dressing up in my Karwa Chauth outfit and my own evening pooja – none of it would have gone so smoothly if the ‘Fabulous Daddy’ hadn’t been kind enough to look after the kids all day. From feeding them to changing diapers, he did it all and let mommy enjoy her stupendous virtual Karwa Chauth party on facebook. We finally had a few moments together during the night time ‘Moon’ pooja before dinner.
With all that excitement, the hours flew easily. This was the first Karwa Chauth where I did not even find the time to realize how the day passed. That was a very good thing really. Here’s to many more lovely Karwa Chauths, beautiful Sarees and exciting Virtual Parties!
