Blissful is the word that comes to my mind when I think of our fun, family vacation at the Pench Tree Lodge in the state of Madhya Pradesh in India. A venture of the award-winning Pugdundee Safaris group known for their environmental-friendly nature resorts, Pench Tree Lodge brings world-class hospitality to India in their sprawling densely wooded property in the middle of the Pench forest. I will let our 2 Night/3 Day experience staying with them speak through my pictures and videos.
The first sign beckoning us towards the captivating eco resort is like a painting itself!
The strict safety protocols during pandemic times, put our minds at ease and we felt instantly relaxed.
The meandering, green paths could lead us to our cottage, but we were famished by the time we reached there, so we decided to go for lunch first! This was the first of many sumptuous meals by Chef Pankaj that we would be having at Pench Tree Lodge.
Check out all their safety protocols as well details of our delicious Indian Lunch in this video:
Pench Tree Lodge Cottages
After lunch, we checked into our luxurious, spacious family cottage built in the style of a ski lodge. The stone and wood architecture blew my mind away!
Let’s push open the grand wooden door and check out the gorgeous cottage from inside in this video:
A Nature Walk within the Pench Tree Lodge Resort
After resting a while, we set off to explore the property. The 40 acre property of Pench Tree Lodge invites you to explore every nook. We set off for a nature walk guided by the resident naturalist Mr. Gaurav Dhotre as he pointed out the names of various plants, trees, birds and bugs.
From stunning waterfalls to meandering streams and a picture-perfect lake, every turn made us want to linger and soak in the splendors of nature all around us.
The refreshing and exhilarating trek was complimented by the perfect finale to the exploring session as well as our first day – another flavorful dinner. Dinners begin with an assortment of starters and we soon realized that starters were going to become one of our favorite part of the meals here!
The evening nature walk and dinner details have been captured in full detail in this video:
Jungle Safari in the Pench Tiger Reserve
We hit the bed early as the next morning was going to be an early one. Yes, it was time for our Jungle Safari in the Pench Tiger Reserve.
Mr. Gaurav Dhotre accompanied us one again and ensured we had an enriching safari experience. Pench Tree Lodge is located near the Karmajhiri gate of Pench National Park (there are several gates where you can enter the park). So we entered the park from the Karmajhiri gate.
The beauty of the Pench jungle and the excitement of spotting various animals on the safari was matched by the breakfast spread that Pugdundee Safaris put together for us. At a stop point within the forest, we enjoyed Kathi rolls, Veg calzones, muffins, fruit and tea packed for us by Chef Pankaj at Pench Tree Lodge.
Check out our full jungle safari and “breakfast in the jungle” experience in this video:
Back after an invigorating trip into the jungle, we indulged in another luscious and mouth-watering lunch.
Pench Tree Lodge Treehouses
After lunch, we set out to explore some more! Our spacious family cottage is not the only type of accommodation available at Pench Tree Lodge. They also have dreamy looking treehouses perfect for small families and especially suitable for couples.
Of course, I will give you a tour of the tree house 🙂
The central building of the resort is also a stunning piece of architecture built to resemble a jungle lodge. It houses 2 dining halls, a library, a recreation room and the swimming pool.
This video will take you on a beautiful tour of all the common areas of Pench Tree Lodge.
Pench Tree Lodge Organic Farm Tour
After exploring to our heart’s content, we then proceeded towards another activity planned for us by the resort – a tour of their Organic Farm and Vegetable Garden.
This fun evening activity was followed by a beautiful candlelight dinner by the pool, all of which is documented in this video:
Pench Tree Lodge – Our Review
Pench Tree Lodge is a beautiful, luxurious and eco-friendly place to stay when visiting the Pench Tiger Reserve. They are an excellent example of how a jungle resort can conserve the trees and forests that they are situated amidst. Of the massive 40 acres of land that they possess, they have constructed only 6 cottages, 6 treehouses, a central building and an entrance lobby. The rest of the space is conserved as the forest land that it originally is! So you get the feeling of truly living within a forest.
The landscape of Pench Tree Resort is a haven for nature lovers and a perfect retreat for city families and kids to enjoy nature at it’s purest and within the safe confines of the resort. Kids were able to spot a lot of birds, butterflies, bugs and even snails within the resort itself. The entire stay was like a nature trip – with luxury added!
Their attention to details and safety protocols made it possible for us to take a vacation with our kids during covid. The accommodation is simply outstanding in terms of comfort, luxury and views! Each cottage and treehouse is surrounded by lush greenery and faces a water body making the attached balconies and porches a favorite place to idle your time away. The impressive indoors also vie to compete with the magnificent outdoors as you will see from my detailed cottage, treehouse and common area tour videos above. Even inside the rooms, they have taken eco-friendly measures and minimized the use of plastic to an astonishing extent!
A review of Pench Tree Lodge will not be complete without a special mention of the food. Every single meal was finger-licking good and I miss them even now! The food is sourced locally and from their own organic farm and the menus are a blend of local delicacies and popular Indian favorites. The staff was extremely professional, courteous and made our stay very comfortable. They were extremely attentive to the kids and even remembered their names and eating preferences during our stay.
Needless to say, the kids were ecstatic and we all came back with fond memories of an enriching and relaxing weekend at the magnificent Pench Tree Lodge.
